The team spotted this Stubby Squid off the coast of California at a depth of 900 meters (2,950 feet). The stubby squid (Rossia pacifica) looks like a cross between an octopus and squid, but is more closely related to cuttlefish. This species spends life on the seafloor, activating a sticky mucus jacket and burrowing into the sediment to camouflage, leaving their eyes poking out to spot prey like shrimp and small fish. Rossia pacifica is found in the Northern Pacific from Japan to Southern California, most commonly seen up to 300m deep, but specimens have been collected at 1000m depth.

New York in 1993 in HD - DTheater DVHS Demo Tape
In 2002 D-Theater launched in the US - the dealers needed a demo tape of HD footage. JVC reused some HD video that had been shot as a demo for the Japanese HD market back in 1993.
This footage would have most likely been originally used for a HiVision MUSE Laserdisc demo.
You can tell the year is 1993 by the adverts in Times Square - the Radio 501 CD that's advertised on a billboard came out in 1993 and Paper Moon is playing at the Marquis Theater.
For those wondering what HD video camera tech existed in 1993 - there are a few options, but it's likely that this footage was shot with a HDVS camera- perhaps a Sony SONY HDC-500 attached to a HDV-10 portable recorder which recorded on UniHi 3/4" tape.

Competition: Win Sherlock - The Abominable Bride Audio CD
Synopsis:
Broadcast on BBC TV on January 1st 2016, The Abominable Bride saw the Sherlock series return to its original Victorian roots in a highly acclaimed special.
Watched by over 11m viewers in the UK, a cinema release with bonus footage was simulcasted in over 100 cinemas. The impact of the series across the world was underlined by major box office receipts around the globe especially in China and South Korea.
The episode won a Prime-time Emmy Award For Outstanding Television Movie.
"The combination of the two of us works and I don't know what Sherlock would sound like if it was just David, or just me. Certainly we're capable of doing it but there's something to that creative mixing of our two voices which maybe really takes a cue from the show. There are two voices - John and Sherlock. It's not just Sherlock being super smart or just John dutifully solving crimes. They are a pair and that's why it works, and further I think a little creative chaos can be a good thing". - Michael Price
